Self-Referral Journey
Here’s what to expect after you fill out the Talking for Change self-referral therapy form:
-
Introductory call
A clinician from Talking for Change will contact you to review the limits to confidentiality and ask you a few brief questions (and you are welcome to ask questions, too).
-
Schedule assessment appointment
If you would like to move forward following that conversation, and your needs fit with the kind of help we can provide, we will schedule an appointment for an assessment (which can be in-person or virtual depending on your preference and location).
-
Assessment appointment
The assessment appointment is a 2-hour meeting with a clinician to talk about a number of areas in your life, and will include questions about your mental health, sexual interests, and behaviour.
-
Recommendations
At the end of that appointment, the clinician will share with you their professional recommendations for any next steps that might be helpful.
The clinician may recommend you for our psychotherapy program and/or suggest referrals to other services. It is your decision if you want to follow through with any of these recommendations.
